We have carefully planned every room at Lyme Cottage to help make sure that you thoroughly enjoy your stay. Renovations to the property are now complete and we’ll be posting more photos to accompany the sections below over the coming months.

sleeping

We bounced on countless beds before selecting bespoke beds from Which? award winners Warren Evans. You’ll sleep like a baby!

The double bedroom has plenty of hanging space, full length double mirrors inside the wardrobe doors and the windows have views of the sea and of the famous Cobb. There is a TV hidden in the cupboard in case you get tired of the sound of the sea!

The bespoke Superking bed in the second bedroom can be unzipped to form two single beds if required. Just let us know which configuration you prefer before you arrive.

We have a travel cot that we can leave out for you on request, but please bring your own bedding for this, and a stair guard if you need one.

cooking

The high spec kitchen has everything you’ll need – and possibly a few things besides! A fan assisted oven, four hobs, an ample sized fridge and separate freezer to give you plenty of options for meals if you enjoy cooking.

The essentials are all there too – kettle, 4-slot toaster and cooking and measuring impliments as well as crockery and cutlery (with additional smaller cutlery for kids too).

If you’re a fan of seasonal seafood then you’ll find fresh crab, lobster and today’s catch at the Wet Fish Shop – the fishmonger serving all the local restaurants such as The Oyster & Fish House – just 30 seconds from your front door, open 9am-4pm every day.

eating

You’ve got plenty of options when it comes to dining at Lyme Cottage. A fold-out dining table and chairs give you the option of dining inside the front conservatory with a gorgeous sea view – great for rainy days, cold mornings or cosy evenings.

On sunny days you’ll probably be tempted to put the sun brolly up and set up for meals out on the decking – which gets the sunshine from dawn til dusk. There’s always the option of a TV dinner in the lounge area too, of course, or a snack for two at the breakfast bar… or even a quiet glass of wine out in the secluded back patio.

We can leave a high chair out for you if you need one.

working & studying

WiFi symbol

If you need to get some work done while you’re here you’ll be glad to find that the cottage has a WiFi broadband connection. It is unlimited use and you can access from anywhere in the house and which stretches to the decking. (Worth mentioning that mobile phone reception tends to be fairly sketchy in Lyme Regis with very limited 3G coverage… so you’ve got every excuse for being out of touch if you prefer!). Writing postcards was never as much of a pleasure as it is sitting overlooking the sea in the front conservatory.

bathrooms

Lyme Cottage has a bathroom on each floor. Downstairs you’ll find a bath with a hand rail, shower, toilet and heated towel rail – with direct access from the back door if you don’t want to walk sandy/wet feet through the house. On the first floor there’s a second bathroom with a toilet and shower and heated towel rail – so you don’t have to trail downstairs in the middle of the night. Both bathrooms have child safe locks on them. Soap, hand cream, bath towels and hand towels are provided.

the garden

Celebrate being by the sea in the sunshine by throwing open the French windows and spreading out onto the decking to enjoy the sea view. Serving any meal out on the deck is a real treat – breakfast, lunch or dinner by candlelight if the weather’s warm enough.

Please do pick fresh herbs fo your cooking from the extensive herb garden when in season! The path (made up of Jurassic blue lias stone from a local quarry) opens up into a circle in the centre of the garden where you can catch the last of the setting sun.

guest facilities

We’ve tried to think of everything! The following list covers some of the things that may not have been included in other parts of the website… let us know if there’s anything missing!

  • Kitchen: dishwasher, hand blender, cafitiere, salad spinner, coffee grinder
  • Utility area: washer-dryer, drying rack and pegs, laundry basket
  • Kids: high chair, travel cot, kids cutlery & bowls
  • Living room: internet enabled TV, DVD player, floor fan, Bluetooth sound system, USB charger
  • Bedrooms: hair dryer, extra blankets, TV in front bedroom

parking

Lyme Cottage is on a pedestrian terrace but there are three car parks in close proximity… Reserve a space in our neighbour’s car park for £10 a day / £55 a week, park down by the Cobb for £8 a day, or leave the car at the top of Cobb Road at the Holmbush car park for £2 a day / £14 a week (you can buy your ticket for the week so there’s no need to run up and down the hill each day to top it up!). There is space to pull up by the gate to Cobb Terrace for loading and unloading before you park the car. Get in touch if you’d like more details and maps. Prices quoted here were correct for 2021 and will usually rise a little each year.
